PO2/BUL2

Date of birth 07/23/1938
Date of passing 12/03/2025

Robert Hampton, also known as Boo, ag 87, from Bourne, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family members on December 3, 2025. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn S. Hampton, and his granddaughter Charlotte S. Hampton.

Robert spent most of his life being a craftsman. His early years were spent working with his father in boat yards learning how to build wooden boats. These skills would later be put into use building a boat with his two grandsons. At age 18 he enlisted into the United States Navy where he became a Navy Seabees, where he got the opportunity to travel and see other parts of the world. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, he went to work at MBL as head of the carpentry shop for many years, before starting his own construction business. He also met his wife Carol while working in Woods Hole. Robert built the iconic model of the Charls W. Morgan that is proudly displayed on the candle house, with a plaque in his honors in Woods Hole.

Robert’s most favorable time was spent with his two grandsons, Kaleb and Brayden. He built many wooden cars for the derbies in Boy Scouts and beamed with pride as he passed his love and craftsmanship for woodworking down to them. Robert was a kind and gentle man always offering a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

Robert has a passion for horseback riding, spending many years on the trails with his daughter Sarah. He was a true cowboy at heart. He started a 4H Club in Bourne when his daughter was young and never missed a horse show or event.

He leaves behind his daughter Sarah Hampton, of Bourne, his grandsons Kaleb and Brayden Hampton, both of Bourne, his sister Judi (Hampton) and her husband Donald Uitti of Pocasset and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on December 15, 2025, from 11am to 1pm at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 475 Main Street, Falmouth with burial to follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
