Final Salute

John (Rudy) Schaffhauser, Jr. 81, of Coatesville, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lost his long battle with cancer on October 29, 2024.

He was the son of the late Sadie (nee Prichard) and John R. Schaffhauser, Sr. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Broomall, PA, he is survived by his wife, Diane (Ney) Eckenbach-Schaffhauser, daughter Diana Schaffhauser-Fetterman (Dwayne), two grandchildren Ryan and Brooke. He was preceded in death by a son, John (Jack) R. Schaffhauser, III and a sister Audrey Colson.

Rudy graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1960. He attended Williamson Trade School and graduated as a carpenter in 1963.

Rudy served in the United States Navy from 1965 -1969 as a Seabee where he served two tours in Vietnam. He later joined the Seabee Reserves in 1974 and retired in 1994. Rudy served as an advocate for veterans, always believing no veteran should die alone.
