David S. Markos, age 73 of Portage, IN passed away on Wednesday March 15, 2023. He was born on January 15, 1950 to George and Irene (Hager) Markos. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Langkamp) Markos of 48 years; daughters, Angela Williamson, Stephanie (Augie) Voye, and son, Ken (Robyn) Markos; 6 grandchildren, Mary (Alex Budgin) Williamson, Ashley (Sean Harrington) Williamson, Alyssa (Conrad Fabian) Voye, Melanie Markos, Maverick Markos, Braedyn Voye; and 2 great grandchildren, Maggie and Parker Harrington. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Patrick Markos.
He graduated Portage high school in 1968. On June 14, 1968 he proudly started his worldly adventure serving in the United States Navy Seabees. He served 2 tours in Vietnam from 1970-1971. David and Donna met while he was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base. They married November 15, 1974. He retired from the Navy Jan. 1st., 1989 to start his next life adventure sharing his stories with family and friends. David loved taking vacations with his wife and his older sister, Mary Danielson, and sharing stories with his sister on the phone. He also loved spending time with his best friend, Steve Miller, hanging out, laughing, and sharing stories. He was a man who loved being a husband, dad, Papa, and Great Papa, serving God and his country.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368 with Deacon Dennis Guernsey officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Donations in David’s honor may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
