Final Salute

Theodore “Ted” Brodt, 87, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 25, 1935, in Peoria, to Theodore and Jennie (Forney) Brodt. He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Billmeyer, on June 22, 1957, in East Peoria and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary; she survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Carrie (Darold) Frerichs of Morton and Christine (James) Droste of Indianapolis; four siblings, Marsha (Carl) Reardon of East Peoria, David (Charlene) Brodt of Washington, Henry (Joyce) Brodt of Laguna Beach, CA, and Harold (Daisy) Brodt of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren: Lucas Frerichs, Tracy Frerichs, Leah Droste, and Emma Droste; three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Judy Rentfro, Lois Billmeyer, and Jackie Billmeyer; and was preceded in death by brothers-in-law: James Rentfro and Louis Billmeyer.
Ted graduated from the EPCHS Class of 1953. He started building houses with his dad and continued in that career until he retired.
Ted served in the Naval Reserves as a Seabee and retired at the rank of Chief Petty Officer after 23 years. He was a life member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America.
Private burial, with full military honors, will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria is assisting the family.
