John Kenner Hayes, lifelong resident of Mobile, died November 24, 2025, at age 65.
John graduated from Murphy High School in 1978. He served in the United States Navy Seabees for five years. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Greece, the Aleutian Islands, and the Bahamas. Later John became a member of the Longshoremen’s Association and served for a time as president of ILA 1459. He retired in 2019 and spent his time woodworking, gardening, cooking, and keeping up with family and friends.
John was the sixth child born to A. W. Hayes Sr. and Eleanor T. Flinn. He is survived by his wife Rebecca of 9 years, his two daughters Desiree and Jessica, his five grandchildren Sam, Katie, James Ruffin, Boston, and Maya, his three sisters Mary Katherine, Joanne, and Robin, and his dogs Gypsy and Belle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother A. W. Hayes Jr, and his sister Rebecca Ellen.
John was a kind and generous person with a playful sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
