John P. McMahon, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He is reunited with his beloved wife of 43 years, Dorothy P. (Buck) McMahon. McMahon, both of Clinton; four adoring granddaughters, Ava, Mariah, and Gracie Reisner, and Anya McMahon; his sister, Susan Coleman of Clinton; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
A lifelong Clintonian, John was the son of the late John P. & Mary (Hallinan) McMahon. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and enlisted to proudly serve our nation in the United States Navy. John was assigned to the Naval Construction Battalion and was honorably discharged after four years as a Navy Seabee-Builder Second Class. He returned home safely to begin his 40-year lifelong career as a Union Carpenter with Local 475. A talented woodworker, he enjoyed building furniture and proudly continued construction on his family camp in Maine. John had a deep appreciation for the company of family and friends, especially when paired with a fine meal, a good bottle of wine, and a cigar. Generous and thoughtful, John enjoyed sharing his culinary creations and homemade “Papa Bread” with those he loved. Active in his community, he held membership with the Clinton Elks Lodge and was a life member and faithful parishioner of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish. Above all, he was a devoted family man, loving husband, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
