Jay E. Holsopple Obituary

Jay E. Holsopper, 60, Windber, died unexpectedly Aug. 19, 2013.

Born April 26, 1953 , in Paint Township, son of Robert and Dorothy (Bowser) Holsopple.

Preceded in death by father, and brother, Roy “Gene” Holsopple.

Survived by mother, Windber, and daughter, Kim, wife of Louis Fingerman, Camp Hill. Grandfather to Samantha and Erin Fingerman; brother to Richard, married to the former Sharon Keller, and Gloria, wife of Roy Shaffer, both of Windber; and uncle to Lori Ann Sneeringer and Todd and Dan Shaffer. Also survived by former wife, former Patricia Ott, Windber; three great-nephews; and special friend, Dot Stevens.

Proud veteran and retiree of the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees.

Always willing to help others with projects. Loved working with his hands and woodworking. Lifetime member of VFW Post 4795. Loving son, father, grandfather and uncle. Member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Daniel Shaffer, nephew of the deceased, officiating.

Interment, Berkey Cemetery with military graveside rite by Windber VFW Ritual Team.
