We are saddened to announce that Anthony C. Rossi “Tony”, age 83, of Shamong, NJ passed away
peacefully on January 19, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Tony was born (February 19, 1941) to the late Edith (nee Hice) and Carmen Rossi in Trenton, NJ. He
joined the US Navy in 1960 and completed training at Little Creek Amphibious base (UDTR Class 28) and
was assigned to UDT-22 where he served until discharged in 1965. During his time in the Teams, he
graduated from “Rigger” school and was responsible for parachutes constantly being ready for training
and deployment. He proudly served our country as a builder second class in the US Naval Reserves,
retiring in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the UDT SEAL Association.
Tony graduated from Trenton State College in 1967 and retired from Delran High School after 20 years of
teaching photography, graphic design and computers. During his college tenure he lettered three years
and participated in track as well as football. In 1967, he was one of the top ten, in small colleges, in the
nation for punting. In 1970, during the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) strike, he signed as a free agent
with the Philadelphia Eagles, as a punter, but he never got the chance to play in a game, as the strike
ended. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family and volunteering at McGuire
and Fort Dix. Tony loved his motorcycle and was a member of the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club,
Delaware Valley Chapter.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Deborah (nee Sansom); his children, Don Donaldson
(Jessica); Jeff Rossi (Stephanie) and his grandchildren, Carson and Caleb Donaldson, and Weston Rossi.
Tony leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He was loved immensely by his family
and he will be remembered as a kind, patient, loving and supportive husband, dad, and individual.
Anyone who knew Tony will forever remember him as a generous spirit and someone who loved to
laugh. He lived a life filled with love, honor, service and adventure and he will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to Tony’s visitation on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 10 to 11 am at
the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Military Honors to follow at
11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tony’s name to the National US Naval Seal
Museum, Fort Pierce at Donate | National Navy SEAL Museum.
