Frank S. Madia Jr. 75, of Marcy passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care in New Hartford.
He was born on August 19, 1947 in Utica a son of the late Frank and Rose (Maida) Madia Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Proctor High School. He served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970 and later served in the United States Naval Reserves Seabees.
On May 19, 1973 at St. Agnes Church in Utica he was united in marriage to Marianne Wuest a blessed union of over 49 years filled with much love and mutual devotion.
Mr. Madia was employed with Utica Psychiatric Center retiring in 2012 after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro.
He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time that he spent with his family especially his adored grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and was a talented carpenter who built his own home. He was a generous person always there to help a friend in need. He was very handy and able to fix just about anything. He will be sadly missed by his many family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife Marianne Madia of Marcy, his two daughters, Jessica (Daniel) Owens of Chittenango, NY, and Rebecca (Todd) Duval of Utica. He leaves his grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob and Benjamin Owens and Joshua and Cierra Duval, also a step granddaughter, Bryanna (Noah) Lupini. He leaves a sister, Lena (Kenneth) Wuest of New Hartford, and his nieces, Lisa (Chris) Steeper, and Kim (Ken) Paparella. Last but not least he leaves his faithful canine companion, “Brady”.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro with the Rev. Thomas Durant officiating. Military Honors will be offered at the conclusion of the Memorial Mass. There are no public calling hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Memorial Mass.
