Edwin Brown, 95, passed away May 1, 2021, in Fort Collins, CO. He was born in Pattonsburg, MO, on May 24, 1925, to Jesse and Delia Culver Brown. The family moved to Deadwood, SD, where Edwin (nickname “Chub”) graduated from Deadwood High School. Upon entering the U.S. Navy – Construction Battalion, he served as a Second Class Bos’n Mate in the Seabees from 1944 to 1946 in Adak, AK.

In 1947 he moved to Fort Collins to work for his brother-in-law, Jake Cope, at the Mountain Marketeria Grocery. He met and married Nancy Elizabeth Hobbs; they were wed on December 12, 1948.

Ed worked many jobs over the years, often two or more at the same time. He was a postal clerk and letter carrier, bus driver, maintenance worker, and driver for Enterprise car rental. Also, he and Nancy operated Type-Ink out of their home for 24 years, typing and printing theses and dissertations for thousands of college students across the nation. They were involved for many years at First Baptist Church and then were instrumental in planting Mountain Range Baptist Church, a new Conservative Baptist Church in Fort Collins, and poured themselves into every aspect of the work.

His wife, Nancy Brown, preceded him in death in 2010. His brother, Darius Brown, and his sisters, Eva McCoy and Lila Cope Otey, also preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, David (Linda) of San Francisco, CA; four daughters, Kathleen Brown of Denver; Linda (Dick) Johnson of Grand Junction; Janet (Bob) Johnson of Shoreview, MN; and Judy Brown of Fort Collins. Seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive him. His special interests were golfing, baseball, bowling, motorcycling, and digital photography.
