Final Salute

ROBERT GRIZZELL, 89, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away in his home after a long battle with dementia on November 8, 2025.
He was born in Huntington, West Virginia, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 27 years. Robert was a member of the Seabees Veterans of America, Island XI of Huntington, WV and a member of American Legion Post #16 in Huntington, WV.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Beth (Reed) Grizzell; daughters Christie (Marion) Mills and Nancy Grizzell; sister Grace Weaver; grandchildren Jason Mills (Karen), Amy Mills, Robert McCloud, and Helena Grizzell; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nannie (Lambert) Grizzell; brothers Billy J. and Leonard L. Grizzell; daughters Robin and Alice; and grandson Daniel.
He was employed by Morgan Stationary, Sunbeam, and Kenny Shoe, and later retired from the Huntington Corps of Engineers. Robert was a former member of Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church in Barboursville and, after moving to Columbus, became a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Robert never knew a stranger and his family was his whole world. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary and Cremation Services, 1592 E. Pea Ridge Rd., Huntington, WV near Barboursville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV.
