The Can Do Award is chosen by NSF Board and presented to an Individual, Corporation, Foundation or Organization for embodying the Seabee “Can Do” Spirit through support of scholarships for US Navy Seabee children and grandchildren. The award was created by the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association in 2017. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award.

Parsons Brinckerhoff was a big supporter of our two predecessor organizations that merged to become the Navy Seabee Foundation. Between 1995 and 2014 they gave over $83,000 to support our scholarship fund and to support the construction of the US Navy Seabee Museum. When WSP acquired Parsons Brinckerhoff they continued their support.

Francis T. & Louise T. Nichols Foundation
Presented September 23rd at Seabee Celebration, Davisville Seabee Museum and memorial Park
The Francis T. & Louise T. Nichols Foundation has been a major supporter of the Navy Seabee Founation, beginning in 2010 with a grant to the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association. Francis and Louise Nichols were the parents of William T. Nichols who served in the Naval Reserve, completing 27 years of service before retiring in 1994. He received a Navy Achievement Medal in 1988 and was awarded Seabee of the Year, Reserve Naval Construction Regiment 27. He was always very proud of the Seabees and the work they did and was instrumental in the Foundation supporting the Scholarship Program.

Turner supported both the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association and was a major contributor to building the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum and funded an endowed scholarship.

The 2020 “Can Do” award was presented to Clark Construction virtually during the online Seabee Celebration. Clark Construction was a lead donor to the 2011 SMSA “Can Do” Legacy Campaign to increase the scholarship endowment.

The 2019 “CAN DO” Award was presented to Huntington Ingalls Industries for its outstanding contributions and commitment to SMSA’s “Can Do” Legacy for Education Campaign, which increased the scholarship endowment.
The award was accepted by Michael Lempke, President of Huntington Ingalls Industries Technical Solutions Division, Nuclear Environmental Group.
