Navy Seabee Foundation Awards
Honoring Those Who Make a Difference!
Each year the Navy Seabee Foundation gives seven awards to honor Seabees, our supporters and a distinguished scholar. The awards are given throughout the year.
The Robert Dean Stethem Award
The SW2 Robert D. Stethem Award (Chosen by NAVFAC) is presented in connection with the Seabee Birthday. It recognizes outstanding individual moral courage in support of the traditions of the Seabees while in the course of actual operations.
The award was created by the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation in 1996. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award to honor the memory of SW2 Stethem.
RADM Lewis B. Combs Award
The RADM Lewis B. Combs Award (Chosen by NAVFAC) is presented in connection with the Seabee Birthday. It is presented to the individual who has made the most outstanding contribution in perpetuating the legacy of the Seabees and the Civil Engineer Corps. The award was created by the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation in 1996. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award to honor the memory of RADM Combs.
The Fighting Seabee Award
The Fighting Seabee Award (Chosen by NAVFAC) is presented to an active duty Seabee in the fall at Seabee Celebration to a Seabee selected from among all those currently serving for outstanding service and embodiment of the Seabee ethos.
The award was created by the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation in 2010. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award each year.
Everyday Hero Award
The Everyday Hero Award (Chosen By NAVFAC) is presented in the spring to an active duty Seabee for embodying the Seabee “Can Do” spirit through an off-duty act of valor and heroism.
The award was created by the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association in 2016 and presented an the annual Seabee Gala. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award each year.
RADM Ben Montoya Award
The RADM Ben Montoya Award (Chosen by NSF Board) recognizes an Individual, Corporation, Foundation or Organization’s contributions in support of the US Navy Seabee Museum. The award was created by the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation in 2010. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award each year.
Can Do Award
The Can Do Award is chosen by NSF Board and presented to an Individual, Corporation, Foundation or Organization for embodying the Seabee “Can Do” Spirit through support of scholarships for US Navy Seabee children and grandchildren. The award was created by the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association in 2016. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award.
Distinguished Scholar Award
The Distinguished Scholar Award is chosen by the Executive Director and Scholarship Manager and presented to a scholarship recipient who has distinguished himself/herself in their chosen field. The award was created by the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association in 1996. The Navy Seabee Foundation continues to present this award each year.
